Q: What is the WeedGator®
A: The WeedGator® is a sub-aQuatic weed removal tool. The WeedGator® is constructed of high tech, quality materials. The handle is approximately 5’ long made from marine grade polished aluminum. The two (2) 14 ½“long folding blades are made from flex steel and are coated to resist corrosion. The blades’ cutting edges have removable high-quality plastic guards which serve as protection against the sharp teeth when not in use. The brackets and bottom plate are made from stainless steel (not powder coated) or steel (powder coated) for maximum durability. The nose piece, handle grip, and 25’ rope and swivel are also marine grade. All screws and nuts are stainless steel insuring maximum strength and minimal corrosion during the tools life. Simple assembly is required.
If you have weeds, and you want them gone, dont mess with the rest, get the best.

A: This unique tool weighs only 2lbs which makes it extremely user friendly for most adult aged male and female users.

Q: I need help with aquatic weed identification. Where can I go to find out what type of weeds I have in my lake or pond?
A: Please reference these most useful resources: "A Field Guide to VALUABLE UNDERWATER AQUATIC PLANTS of the Great Lakes"; "Aquatic Plant Identification"; Aquatic Weed Drawings; Center for Aquatic Plants.
Q: What are my state laws and regulations affecting my efforts to control aquatic weeds?
A: Since each state often has their own laws, it would most beneficial for you to contact your state's governing body - the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and/or the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality's (MDEQ) response to an inquiry about the need for a permit to use the Aquatic-Weedinator/Weed Gator:
A permit is generally not required from the MDEQ to control aquatic submerged vegetation in inland lakes by mechanical harvesting (i.e., cutting plants above the lake bottom with no soil disturbance). However, cutting vegetation, including mechanical harvesting and mowing, on Great Lakes bottomlands requires a permit from the MDEQ Land and Water Management
Division (LWMD). In addition, a use permit or authorization may be necessary from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) to use a state operated access site for this activity. Disposal of harvested material within inland lakes, on Great Lakes bottomlands, or in wetlands is not allowed without prior written approval from the LWMD.
Inconsequential or insignificant (de minimis) vegetation removal done by hand (e.g., hand pulling, raking or cutting a few plants) does not require a permit. Larger scale removal of plants or mechanical removal of plants may require a permit from the LWMD.
